For the serious photographer, the advent of digital photography was not so much a matter of convenience as at last having the virtual darkroom. It became possible to "process" color photos without expensive darkroom equipment. The first digital cameras had minimal resolution [measured in megapixels (mp)] but by the turn-of-the-century, high resolution cameras were readily available.

Some things have not changed since the days of black-and-white photography. There are still some critics who disdain photography as an art form. Is an Ansell Adams photo of a Yosemite vista or one of Wee Gee's candid photos of automat patrons art? The answer to that question lies in the answer to a second question. Would one like the photo hanging on a wall in their home?
