About Tolley
Dr. W. Robert Tolley (1933-    )

     Dr. Tolley is both a renowned art educator and artist, a realist oil painter.  He was born in Cambridge, attended Cambridge High School, the Maryland Art Institute, and continues to live and work in Cambridge.  He earned a doctorate from Nova University.  His forte is wildlife paintings but he is eclectic in his subject matter.  He exhibits widely and has won many, many awards and competitions, both for his wildlife paintings and his still life arrangements and scenes.

      Among Cambridgians the favorite of Dr. Tolley's paintings, and one of the finest American paintings of the street scene genre since Edward Hopper, is Meekins' Corner.  The location was a gathering place for elderly gentlemen of the day, a place where they could take the sun, watch the world go by and gossip.  Dr. Tolley's painting perfectly captures the essence:
